Documentaries

Iraq

What Was Promised provides unique insight into the U.S-led initiative to train and recruit women for Iraq’s New Army and police force post-invasion. The story is told through in-depth interviews, rare archival images and original footage. What Was Promised premiered at the National Geographic All Roads Film Project and was picked up for distribution by London-based TVF International.

Liberia

Liberia: Women and War is a short film profiling women overcoming the consequences of war in their ravaged homeland.

Soon after Liberia: Women and War was made available at no cost to an online audience, National Geographic Society selected Women at the Forefront founder Roshini Thinakaran as an Emerging Explorer, recognizing her work as an innovative approach to inspiring people to care about our planet.
